Last night at the United Nations, Team Trump took a significant step toward the Dark Side, refusing to support a European resolution blaming Russia for the war in Ukraine.
Trump's ties to Russia go back almost a decade, but his more recent fealty to Putin is now being operationalized across his entire national security team. It is Tulsi Gabbard, a Putin apologist who was featured on Russian TV, at DNI; Kash Patel at the FBI, who earned money spreading disinformation with a Russian-backed filmmaker; and Pete Hegseth at DOD, who fired the top military brass and ceded Ukrainian territory to Russia. Then we have Vice President JD Vance and Elon Musk, who both sided with a Russian-backed right wing party in Germany's recent elections.
It is long past time for the GOP Senate to sound the alarm about this seismic and dangerous shift of American National Security. They failed to stop the nominees, now they must face stopping the policy and the consequences.
