New COS to DEPSEC linked the hardpartying disgraced congressman
With Pete Hegseth's nomination up for a full vote of the Senate later this week, the Trump Transition has already assigned him a Chief of Staff, one with a eerily similar checkered past. Last December, with no fanfare, they named Joe Kasper to be COS for the new DEPSEC, Hegseth. Kasper was COS to disgraced CA congressman, Duncan Hunter, who's office was famous for committing numerous crimes of using campaign funds for personal use. Hunter and Kasper were well-known for the partying lifestyle on the Hill. In September of 2017, Kasper left the office, with the San Diego Tribune reporting he got a job a Senate-confirmed job at DOD, though ultimately someone else was tapped for the role. In December 2019, Hunter pled guilty to conspiracy to steal campaign funds, admitting to diverting approximately $250,000 for personal use and was sentenced to 11 months in federal prison. In December 2020, President Donald Trump granted him a full pardon, preventing him from serving the prison sentence. Look out Pentagon, here come the Booze Brothers.
