Five Reasons to Oppose Pete Hegseth

1. Misconduct Allegations: Hegseth has faced accusations of sexual assault, including a high-profile case in Monterey, California, from 2017. While charges were not filed, the controversy surrounding the case remains significant. Even his own mother has called into question his character and treatment of women.

2. Alcohol Abuse: There have been multiple reports of Hegseth's problematic alcohol use, including from staff at FOX News. Such behavior raises serious questions about his judgment and vulnerability to our nation’s adversaries..

3. Christian Nationalist Views: Hegseth has tattooed himself with symbols like the Jerusalem Cross and the phrase "Deus Vult," which are known for their association with Christian nationalism and historical militarism. Concerns are that his views could marginalize non-Christian or non-Western groups within the military, and that such views would color his approach to American defense policy.

4. No Experience in Leading Large Organizations:  Hegseth would lead the strongest military in the world. Hosting a morning TV show does not prepare someone to manage the Department of Defense, the world's largest bureaucracy, which requires extensive organizational and leadership experience.

5. Polarizing Military Stances: Hegseth has opposed women serving in combat roles and supports court-martialing military leaders who followed policies he disagrees with, reflecting views that could disrupt morale, cohesion and readiness of the US armed forces.
